It can also represent the Holy Trinity-the unity of brain, heart and gut. The first masculine number is symbolised by the triquetra (and the Reuleaux triangle within). It is also associated with the binary system, mitosis and the vesica pisces. The first feminine number represents the twin serpents of duality-unmanifest and manifest, unconscious and conscious, yin and yang. In the alchemical tradition, one is the opposite of zero. ![]() This is the number of creation and unity. Zero is also the number of unity, as seen in the winged disc and the ouroboros. Even visually this number is symbolic of the egg that gave birth to the number sequence. Zero implies the pure potentiality of the divine and the point from which all other numbers spring forth.
